Damp, showery conditions today, with a mirror surface most of the day with a settled glass. Activity on Lac Mungo should centre on windblown banks where food collects. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Mungo lies within the bounds of Mauricie, Quebec. The water sits 482 metres up. Around 16 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. With about 2.3 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. For a base, Leblanc sits 57 km out. Weymontachie follows at 99 km, then Normandin at 117 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Species logged across Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. At Lac Mungo light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. The season on Lac Mungo follows the weather closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac Tie is 0.8 km distant. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Mungo for certain.
