A closed sky with even light today, with almost no wind to speak of with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Molin should be near the weed line and any gaps in it. The strongest window is the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Molin lies in Laurentides, in Quebec. The ground around here is taiga. With some 36 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge runs 3.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Few waters listed in Laurentides are bigger. The closest town, Ferme-Neuve, is 74 km away. It is 211 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Lac Molin gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Seasonal averages run from -16°C in January up to 17°C in July. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That shapes the year on Lac Molin.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Karou is 3.9 km distant. For Lac Molin, the notice at the access point is the final word.
