A grey, even sky over the water, with mild air moving in from the SSW with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac Mitsu will be around bays that hold the day's warmth. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Outaouais, Quebec, is where Lac Mitsu sits. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. Around 32 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 3.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It ranks high for size among our Outaouais listings. For a base, Deep River sits 60 km out. Gatineau is the closest city, 172 km away. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Mitsu gives up more to patience than to distance.
Between January at about -15°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. At Lac Mitsu the season follows that pattern closely.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Nilgaut sits 2.1 km off and takes the overflow. Where Lac Mitsu is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
