Solid cloud cover today, with a light chop building from the W and steady pressure. Start the search at Lac Mithe along inflow corners and shaded margins. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Mithe belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Land around it is northern bush. Around 47 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Around 5.8 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. On our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list it sits near the top for size. Some 46 km away sits Albanel, the nearest settlement. After that come Dolbeau-Mistassini at 49 km and Normandin at 52 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac Mithe the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -20°C in January. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Expect Lac Mithe to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac du Dos d'Ane is 2.3 km off. Nothing on Lac Mithe should be assumed from this page alone.
