An even grey lid over the water, with a persistent wind from the S with a settled glass. Lac Mitchell should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. The numbers single out the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Within Mauricie, Quebec, you have Lac Mitchell. It sits at 384 metres above sea level. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. La Tuque is the closest place, 57 km off. Métabetchouan is 62 km and Chambord 68 km. Water in the same corner: Lac au Pecan at 1.9 km, Lac Lucette out at 1.9 km, Lac Trudel at 2.3 km, Lac Lulu out at 2.4 km and Lac Seul at 3.1 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac Mitchell the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -16°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Anyone fishing Lac Mitchell regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac au Pecan, 1.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Lac Mitchell.
