No direct sun expected today, with a whisper of wind from the S with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Minaki should centre on the calm side of the wind. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Lanaudière, Quebec, this is Lac Minaki. This is pine and birch ground. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. You are 40 km from Saint-Michel-des-Saints. Mandeville lies 59 km off, Saint-Élie-de-Caxton another 60 km. Not far off: Lac Youkltas roughly 1 km, Lac du Leurre 2 km, Lac Wigwasson roughly 2.4 km, Lac Martel 3.1 km and Lac Wawa roughly 3.6 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Minaki the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Long-run averages give July about 17°C and January about -15°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Lac Minaki.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Youkltas is 1 km distant. Nothing on Lac Minaki should be assumed from this page alone.
