Heavy overcast holding through the day, with next to no ripple and the barometer holding steady. Expect most activity at Lac Mignault around points where shallow meets deep. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac Mignault sits within Nord-du-Québec in Quebec. Height above sea level is 402 metres. At some 2.79 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. Some 21 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Nearest place of any size is Chibougamau, 70 km away. Further out sit Chapais (85 km) and Normandin (114 km). Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Nord-du-Québec cover Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. The shape of Lac Mignault rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -19°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan any trip to Lac Mignault around it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. If the gate is shut, Lac Virgule at 2.4 km is the nearest alternative. Signs at Lac Mignault carry more weight than any list.
