A grey, even sky over the water, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac McKinnon along the first drop-off and weed lines. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac McKinnon is one of the Côte-Nord listings for Quebec. Elevation runs to 323 metres. It measures about 29 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. A shoreline of some 3.2 km keeps the choices simple. Nearest place of any size is Baie-Comeau, 39 km away. Beyond it, Hauterive at 46 km and Chute-aux-Outardes at 59 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac McKinnon light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan any trip to Lac McKinnon around it.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac Heather is 4.2 km off. None of that is settled for Lac McKinnon in what we hold.
