Dull, settled light over the water, with an easy breeze from the S and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Masson should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

The Laurentides end of Quebec holds Lac Masson. The bank gives way to rolling bush. At some 2.66 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. It ranks high for size among our Laurentides listings. Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson at 2.6 km is the nearest place to stop. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne is the closest city, 42 km away. Being near a boundary, it pays to know which side you are fishing.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Treat Lac Masson as a water to read rather than to cover.
The year swings from about -13°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Lac Masson rarely departs from it.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Parking sits 850 m out, which makes for a walk with tackle. There is a jetty 1 km off, worth knowing on a busy day. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Dupuis sits 1.5 km off and takes the overflow. The position on Lac Masson is worth confirming on the day.
