Bands of rain crossing through the day, with mild air moving in from the SE with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Martinet should be near structure within a cast of the bank. The day peaks in the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Martinet in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. Everything around it is mixed forest. Surface area runs to about 3 hectares — small enough to read in one session. Saint-Raymond at 22 km is the nearest place to stop. Then Laurentides, 22 km, and Saint-Ubalde, 30 km. Within easy reach: Lac Durocher within 1.1 km, Lac Laroche 1.1 km off, Lac des Roches within 1.6 km, Lac Leme 1.9 km off and Lac au Cochon within 1.9 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Capitale-Nationale records list lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Work Lac Martinet in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -15°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That is the shape of the year on Lac Martinet.
No access rule appears in what we hold. A campsite is mapped about 1.2 km away, which makes an early start easier. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Lac Durocher, 1.1 km away. Rules at Lac Martinet are worth checking on the day.
