Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a gentle ripple from the WNW with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac Martin should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. The strongest window is the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, is where Lac Martin sits. It sits at 354 metres above sea level. About 7 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Val-d'Or lies 98 km from the water. Further out sit Malartic (113 km) and Senneterre (122 km). Water in the same corner: Lac Nauzon about 0.8 km, Lac de la Reserve at 1.7 km, Lac Paumelle about 2.2 km, Lac Carman at 2.2 km and Lac du Ressui about 2.8 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Read Lac Martin before you fish it and the day goes better.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. The season on Lac Martin follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Lac Nauzon at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm access to Lac Martin locally before you travel.
