A grey, even sky over the water, with a light chop building from the E with the glass holding level. Start the search at Lac Maringouin along structure within a cast of the bank. A grinding day likely, with the morning worth the effort if any is. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

Within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, you have Lac Maringouin. The sea is 12 km distant. It covers about 9 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Honoré, 10 km off. Further out sit Saint-Fulgence (14 km) and Chicoutimi (19 km). One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Maringouin that means starting tight and working out.
Seasonal averages run from -17°C in January up to 17°C in July. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Maringouin fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. For a change of water, Lac Castor is 1.3 km distant. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Maringouin for certain.
