Soft grey light all day today, with a kind WSW breeze on the water and pressure sitting still. Lac Mandibule should fish best around the seam between weed and open water today. A slow day overall; the evening is the best of a quiet lot. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Out in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, sits Lac Mandibule. The surroundings are taiga. At about 15 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 3.1 km, and most of it is walkable. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. The closest town, Saint-Honoré, is 56 km distant. Further out sit Saint-Fulgence (58 km) and Saint-Ambroise (66 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Mandibule responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Long-run averages give July about 15°C and January about -19°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Look for the thaw near mid May; the fishing lifts straight after. On average, mid May opens the water and early November closes it again. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Mandibule rarely departs from it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Milushishu is 0.8 km off. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Mandibule for certain.
