Heavy overcast holding through the day, with the water lying quiet with a settled glass. Lac Malaria should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Malaria is listed under Mauricie, Quebec. The water sits 490 metres up. At roughly 7 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. For supplies, Leblanc is 13 km out. Weymontachie follows at 47 km, then Manawan at 112 km. In the same area: Lac Paquin roughly 0.9 km, Lac des Anopheles 1 km away, Lac Colimacon roughly 1.2 km, Lac Michaud 1.4 km away and Lac Peter roughly 2.3 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Malaria a short move beats a long cast.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -17°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Expect Lac Malaria to follow that timing.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Paquin sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. Ask locally about Lac Malaria if anything is unclear.
