An even grey lid over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSE and the barometer holding steady. Lac MacNamara should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. A grinding day likely, with the morning worth the effort if any is. Quiet tactics only; the fish will not chase today.

The Abitibi-Témiscamingue end of Quebec holds Lac MacNamara. The bank gives way to boreal forest. About 9 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. The edge runs 1.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Nearest place of any size is Rouyn-Noranda, 31 km away. Macamic follows at 34 km, then La Sarre at 47 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The near bank of Lac MacNamara is often the one people ignore.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -18°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan around that when you fish Lac MacNamara.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac des Peureux is 0.8 km off. Signs at Lac MacNamara carry more weight than any list.
