Damp, showery conditions today, with a steady SSW wind with the glass holding level. The productive water at Lac Long will be around shallow cover and weed edges. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

In Quebec, Lac Long belongs to Laurentides. Elevation runs to 461 metres. It measures about 29 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Roughly 4.2 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Few waters listed in Laurentides are bigger. Ferme-Neuve is the closest place, 48 km off. Manawan is 51 km and Rivière-Rouge 60 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Long gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. On Lac Long the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac Brockaby is 1.2 km off. Ask locally about Lac Long if anything is unclear.
