Heavy overcast holding through the day, with hardly a ripple anywhere and no real change in pressure. Fish at Lac Carabe should hold close to the first drop-off and weed lines. Save your energy for the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Carabe is a Laurentides water, in Quebec. It lies 455 metres above sea level. Small at around 6 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. The nearest place of any size is Manawan, 48 km away. After that come Ferme-Neuve at 51 km and Rivière-Rouge at 62 km. Close neighbours run: Lac Gros-Bec lies 0.8 km on, Lac Grain de Riz about 1 km, Lac Lucille lies 1.4 km on, Lac Wheeler about 1.5 km and Lac Brockaby lies 1.7 km on. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Laurentides names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Lac Carabe the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid usually goes in early May, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. That is the shape of the year on Lac Carabe.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Lac Gros-Bec, 0.8 km away. For Lac Carabe, the notice at the access point is the final word.
