Flat light and a covered sky today, with a gentle ripple from the S with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Lac Licourt is the first drop-off and weed lines. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Licourt in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Everything around it is boreal forest. About 5 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. For a base, Chibougamau sits 86 km out. Chapais follows at 94 km, then Normandin at 107 km. Within a short drive: Lac Morangis at 0.7 km, Lac Lening some 1.3 km off, Lac Arvigna at 2.1 km, Lac Tarrano some 2.1 km off and Lac Moncourt at 3.2 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Lac Licourt for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -19°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. That is the shape of the year on Lac Licourt.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Morangis, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. The position on Lac Licourt is worth confirming on the day.
