Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with mild air moving in from the S and steady pressure. The productive water at Lac Leon will be around windblown banks where food collects. A slow day overall; the evening is the best of a quiet lot. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

This water sits in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The surface lies 369 metres up. Start from Labrecque, 30 km down the road. Beyond it, Saint-Ambroise at 35 km and L'Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur at 36 km. Also on the doorstep: Lac Melanie roughly 0.2 km, Lac Cecile a shade over 0.5 km, Lac Nere roughly 0.8 km, Petit lac aux Visons a shade over 1.4 km and Lac Rosaire roughly 1.5 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Lac Leon that means starting tight and working out.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Anyone fishing Lac Leon regularly works to that calendar.
No access rule appears in what we hold. A made slipway is 1.2 km from here, which settles the boat question. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Lac Melanie is 0.2 km distant. Rules at Lac Leon are worth checking on the day.
