A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the SSE and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac Lemay along any hard bottom among the soft. The useful hours run night into morning. Stay patient; middling days often turn late. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Lemay lies in Mauricie, in Quebec. This is mixed forest ground. It runs to roughly 16 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. There is roughly 3.1 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Laurentides is the closest place, 14 km off. Sainte-Thècle follows at 38 km, then La Tuque at 38 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Treat Lac Lemay as a water to read rather than to cover.
Averages move between -15°C in January and 18°C in July. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Lac Lemay runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is a recognised fishing place here: Lac de La Digue (maskinongé), 920 m off. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Lac Daure, 0.6 km out. The position on Lac Lemay is worth confirming on the day.
