Rain colouring the margins today, with almost no wind to speak of and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Lear should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Quebec holds Lac Lear, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Around the bank it is rolling bush. About 9 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Nearest place of any size is Mattawa, 51 km away. After that come Notre-Dame-du-Lac at 54 km and Témiscaming at 58 km. Nearby, in order: 2.4 km away is Lac Rinpet, Lac en Demi-Lune 2.7 km away, 2.9 km away is Lac Homard, Lac Athabascan 3 km away and 3.3 km away is Lac Leo. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Lear that means starting tight and working out.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. At Lac Lear the season follows that pattern closely.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Zec Restigo covers ground next to the water; its rules will apply on that side. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac Rinpet is 2.4 km off. What applies at Lac Lear may have changed since it was mapped.
