Flat light and a covered sky today, with a kind S breeze on the water and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Leach around the shallows early and the drop later. The strongest window runs from the day. Stay mobile and follow the activity. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac Leach in Outaouais, Quebec. It sits in lake country bush country. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is a small entry by Outaouais standards. Supplies mean a trip to Fort-Coulonge, 21 km off. Then Shawville, 22 km, and Cobden, 36 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Lac Leach fishes better once you know its edges.
The range across the year is -13°C to 19°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. From about late April to around early December, expect open water on the long-run figures. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Time your trip to Lac Leach by conditions rather than dates.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Lac Woods, 3.1 km away. Nothing on Lac Leach should be assumed from this page alone.
