A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with a light SSW breeze with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Leslie should centre on the weed line and any gaps in it. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Leslie is an Outaouais water, in Quebec. It sits in lake country bush country. At some 2.32 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The edge covers about 12 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. It is among the larger waters listed here for Outaouais. Head to Fort-Coulonge, 16 km away, for anything you forgot. Gatineau sits 77 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. On Lac Leslie the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
On the long-term average, July reads 19°C and January reads -13°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. On average, late April opens the water and early December closes it again. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Anyone fishing Lac Leslie regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Premier Petit Lac sits 0.6 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lac Leslie in what we hold.
