Rain colouring the margins today, with a faint SSW drift and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac Lavoie is structure within a cast of the bank. Set the alarm around the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac Lavoie sits. This is pine and birch country. Small even by pond standards, it rewards one careful line. Most waters listed here for Laurentides are larger. Val-Morin sits 2.8 km from here and is the nearest stop. Val-David follows at 4.5 km, then Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts at 8.1 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Lavoie repays a walk before the first cast.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -13°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. At Lac Lavoie the season follows that pattern closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Expect 1 km away in from where the car goes. Mapping shows a campsite some 1.4 km from the water. Mapping records toilets within 1.4 km. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. The nearest alternative is Lac Alverna, 0.6 km out. The position on Lac Lavoie is worth confirming on the day.
