No direct sun expected today, with a persistent wind from the S and pressure sitting still. On Lac Lastre, work any hard bottom among the soft first. The morning carries the best of the day. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

You will find Lac Lastre in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec. This is northern bush ground. At about 27 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. A shoreline of some 3.4 km keeps the choices simple. It ranks high for size among our Capitale-Nationale listings. Supplies mean a trip to Laurentides, 31 km off. It is 81 km to La Cité-Limoilou, the nearest city. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Work Lac Lastre in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -16°C in January. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. The season on Lac Lastre follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac Bert, 1.7 km away. For Lac Lastre, the notice at the access point is the final word.
