Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac Larose along structure within a cast of the bank. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

The Laurentides end of Quebec holds Lac Larose. The bank is 396 metres above sea level. A splashy cast here empties the swim; a quiet one owns it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Laurentides list. Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard sits 1.2 km from the bank. Then Morin-Heights, 8.7 km, and Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, 11 km. Within a short drive: Lac Elvire after 0.2 km, Lac Vert 1 km, Petit lac Long after 1.4 km, Lac Bois Franc 1.4 km and Lac a Foin after 1.7 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Laurentides records list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Larose the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -14°C on the long-run figures. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Larose.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. The nearest car park we can see is 880 m out, so expect a walk with your gear. Overnight stays are possible 960 m away. A picnic site 970 m off makes this workable with family in tow. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. For a change of water, Lac Elvire is 0.2 km distant. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Larose for certain.
