Flat light and a covered sky today, with an easy breeze from the S and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Lantriac should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac Lantriac in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 395 metres. The water covers some 13 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 1.4 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Supplies mean a trip to Chibougamau, 78 km off. Chapais lies 90 km off, Normandin another 110 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Fish Lac Lantriac to its features, not to its size.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -19°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Lac Lantriac runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Failing this one, try Lac Besain, 0.6 km away. Signs at Lac Lantriac carry more weight than any list.
