Heavy overcast holding through the day, with mild air moving in from the SW and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Langis should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Langis in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. The surface lies 145 metres up. At some 2.05 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The outline measures near 11 km, so local knowledge counts. Few waters listed in Côte-Nord are bigger. The closest town, Port-Cartier, is 39 km distant. Then Saint-Alexandre, 40 km, and Sept-Îles, 72 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. The near bank of Lac Langis is often the one people ignore.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -17°C for January. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Langis fishes to that pattern most years.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Lac Deken is 2.9 km off. What applies at Lac Langis may have changed since it was mapped.
