Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the glass holding level. The fish at Lac Lacey are likely to sit near inflow corners and shaded margins. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

This water sits in Laurentides, Quebec. The setting is spruce and muskeg. It covers about 8 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. A shoreline of some 1.4 km keeps the choices simple. The nearest town is Manawan, 75 km away. For a city, Gatineau is 223 km off. Neighbouring water: Lac Avalon at about 0.6 km, Lac Flood 1.4 km away, Lac Geldert at about 1.5 km, Lac Dunbar 1.7 km away and Lac Chatigny at about 2.1 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Lacey responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Lacey.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Avalon at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Lacey may have changed since it was mapped.
