A charged sky with storms about, with a light SSW breeze with the glass holding level. Give the calm side of the wind the first hour at Lac Labrait. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

In Quebec, Lac Labrait belongs to Mauricie. This is northern bush country. Around 39 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. With 5.1 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. Weymontachie lies 40 km from the water. Then Manawan, 53 km, and Leblanc, 66 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Labrait the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -16°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Lac Labrait the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Vivier, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac Labrait as something to verify.
