A grey, even sky over the water, with a soft SSW wind with the glass holding level. On Lac la Roche, work the margins and the shelf beyond them first. Make the morning the heart of the trip. Ride the conditions while they last. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac la Roche sits. It stands 348 metres above sea level. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is a small entry by Laurentides standards. Start from Morin-Heights, 5.2 km down the road. The big place round here is Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, 45 km distant. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac la Roche gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -13°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac la Roche.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac de la Pierre is 0.6 km distant. Nothing on Lac la Roche should be assumed from this page alone.
