Soft grey light all day today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac de la Pierre should come off structure within a cast of the bank. The morning carries the best of the day. Ride the conditions while they last. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac de la Pierre in the Laurentides part of Quebec. What surrounds it is mixed forest. At 8 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Morin-Heights is the closest place, 4.7 km off. It is 45 km to Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne, the nearest city. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Reported across Laurentides: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Read Lac de la Pierre before you fish it and the day goes better.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -14°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Lac de la Pierre runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. If the gate is shut, Lac la Roche at 0.6 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac de la Pierre, the notice at the access point is the final word.
