Fresh rain topping the water up today, with just enough SSE wind to ripple the surface with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Koch should centre on shallow cover and weed edges. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Côte-Nord in Quebec is where Lac Koch sits. Land around it is taiga. This is sizeable water at about 3.89 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. The edge covers about 23 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. On our Côte-Nord list it sits near the top for size. Supplies mean a trip to Godefroy, 67 km off. Beyond it, Fermont at 194 km and Wabush at 213 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Lac Koch the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Typical July readings run about 14°C; by January the average is down near -21°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Count the season from break-up, usually mid May. On average, mid May opens the water and early November closes it again. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. The season on Lac Koch rarely departs from it.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Long at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. Treat access at Lac Koch as something to verify.
