Overcast skies today, with the water lying quiet with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Kester is bays that hold the day's warmth. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Kester is an Outaouais water, Quebec side. It sits at 413 metres above sea level. At 2 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Outaouais list holds plenty of bigger water. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Boniface, 100 km off. Then Deep River, 107 km, and Maniwaki, 109 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Kester a short move beats a long cast.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan any trip to Lac Kester around it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. For a change of water, Lac Gronie is 1.2 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Kester in what we hold.
