Soft grey light all day today, with a proper ripple driven from the S and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Kaiakuakamat will be around bays that hold the day's warmth. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient.

Look for Lac Kaiakuakamat in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. Everything around it is lake country bush. The water covers around 2.50 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. It ranks high for size among our Côte-Nord listings. Saint-Augustin is the closest place, 108 km off. Humber Arm South is 212 km away, with Irishtown-Summerside at 220 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Read Lac Kaiakuakamat for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Averages here run 15°C at the top of summer and -14°C at the bottom of winter. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Open water usually runs from early May until about late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. The season on Lac Kaiakuakamat follows the weather closely.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Uapuh Kiauhin at 6.6 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Lac Kaiakuakamat in what we hold.
