A closed sky with even light today, with a whisper of wind from the SW and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac Judo around the seam between weed and open water. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Judo is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. The surface lies 359 metres up. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list. Nearest town is Senneterre, 106 km off. Then Val-d'Or, 109 km, and Saint-Boniface, 125 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Judo the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -17°C on the long-run figures. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Judo.
Access is not recorded for this water. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac du Defi sits 0.4 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Judo in particular, ask before you travel.
