Dull, settled light over the water, with a light S breeze with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Jocelyn should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. Not a day the forecast likes; the morning keeps a flicker of interest. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Jocelyn lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have boreal forest. With some 18 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 2.5 km, and most of it is walkable. It is high ground by Quebec standards. For supplies, Saint-Fulgence is 70 km out. After that come Saint-Honoré at 73 km and La Baie at 80 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Jocelyn repays a walk before the first cast.
Seasonal averages run from -19°C in January up to 16°C in July. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid May and starts locking again about mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Jocelyn.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Solitaire at 0.5 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Jocelyn for certain.
