No direct sun expected today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Lac Jarry should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

The Laurentides entry here is Lac Jarry, in Quebec. The water sits 246 metres up. It runs to roughly 16 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. About 1.8 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Supplies mean a trip to Ferme-Neuve, 42 km off. Mont-Laurier lies 58 km off, Saint-Boniface another 69 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Lac Jarry gives up more to patience than to distance.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -16°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. That is the shape of the year on Lac Jarry.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Lac Wilkie at 2.7 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Jarry in particular, ask before you travel.
