Rain on and off through the day, with a light S breeze with the barometer flat. On Lac Jabotte, work the seam between weed and open water first. The strongest window is the morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

In Quebec, Lac Jabotte belongs to Lanaudière. The surface lies 247 metres up. Small at around 3 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is a small entry by Lanaudière standards. The nearest place of any size is Chertsey, 7.8 km away. Further out sit Sainte-Julienne (13 km) and Rawdon (13 km). The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Lanaudière, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Jabotte repays a walk before the first cast.
Average temperature peaks around 19°C in July and bottoms out near -13°C in January. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Anyone fishing Lac Jabotte regularly works to that calendar.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Parking is close: a car park sits 590 m from the bank. The water borders Parc régional de Kilkenny, so expect the reserve rules to apply. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac de la Crosse sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Lac Jabotte.
