An even grey lid over the water, with a soft S wind and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Lafond should centre on windblown banks where food collects. One clear peak today: the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Quebec, Lac Lafond belongs to Lanaudière. The bank is 308 metres above sea level. At about 23 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Supplies mean a trip to Chertsey, 6.9 km off. Saint-Louis-de-Terrebonne is the closest city, 36 km away. Others worth noting: Lac Duffy lies 1.2 km on, Lac Beaulne (1.7 km), Lac Lili lies 2 km on, Lac Beaulac (2.2 km) and Lac Lacroix lies 2.2 km on. Being near a boundary, it pays to know which side you are fishing.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac Lafond responds to conditions more than to tactics.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -14°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Anyone fishing Lac Lafond regularly works to that calendar.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. You can camp about 1.5 km away, going by the mapping. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Duffy sits 1.2 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Lac Lafond in what we hold.
