Wet weather working through today, with a faint SSW drift and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Iota along the calm side of the wind. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Look for Lac Iota in the Outaouais part of Quebec. The country round it is mixed forest from end to end. The water measures roughly 10 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. The nearest town is Saint-Boniface, 34 km away. The big place round here is Gatineau, 150 km distant. Nearby alternatives: Lac Laurier at 0.9 km, Lac Fayot lies 0.9 km on, Lac Dataire at 1 km, Lac Ganache lies 1.2 km on and Lac Azans at 1.3 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The shape of Lac Iota rewards a slow walk along one bank.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -15°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan any trip to Lac Iota around it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Lac Laurier, 0.9 km out. For Lac Iota in particular, ask before you travel.
