Wet weather working through today, with hardly a ripple anywhere with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Indian should hold close to sheltered bays and points. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

You will find Lac Indian in Quebec. The surroundings are lake country bush. Surface area is around 48 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Shoreline comes to about 3.7 km, small enough to learn in a day. Size puts it in the front rank of our Quebec list. Mattawa at 24 km is the nearest place to stop. Then Notre-Dame-du-Lac, 42 km, and Témiscaming, 43 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On Lac Indian the obvious spot is not always the productive one. Colour after rain pulls fish into the margins.
Between January at about -14°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. That is the shape of the year on Lac Indian.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Wolf at 3.3 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Lac Indian.
