Heavy overcast holding through the day, with calm air over the water and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Huiron will be around the weed line and any gaps in it. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Nord-du-Québec, Quebec, is where Lac Huiron sits. It lies 430 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Nord-du-Québec. The closest town, Chibougamau, is 70 km distant. Chapais follows at 83 km, then Normandin at 115 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name Arctic charr, brook trout and lake trout. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Work Lac Huiron in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Averages move between -19°C in January and 16°C in July. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Huiron.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Lac Letia, 0.7 km away. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Huiron for certain.
