Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with calm air over the water with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac Hauriet along reed fringes and open pockets. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Hauriet is one of the Nord-du-Québec listings for Quebec. Land around it is boreal forest. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Nord-du-Québec. Chibougamau sits 51 km from here and is the nearest stop. It is 255 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Nord-du-Québec, recorded fish include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Fish Lac Hauriet where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -19°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Lac Hauriet fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Lac Maskusi at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Hauriet may have changed since it was mapped.
