A grey, even sky over the water, with a faint S drift with a settled glass. Expect most activity at Lac Hart around any hard bottom among the soft. The strongest window is the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Mauricie entry here is Lac Hart, in Quebec. What surrounds it is rolling bush. It measures about 20 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The bank runs about 2.3 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. La Tuque lies 43 km from the water. Beyond it, Sainte-Thècle at 52 km and Saint-Tite at 54 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout and walleye. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Hart repays a walk before the first cast.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -15°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Time your trip to Lac Hart by conditions rather than dates.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. A campsite is mapped about 500 m away, which makes an early start easier. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac des Moineaux, 2.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Lac Hart should be assumed from this page alone.
