A storm system brushing the area today, with a whisper of wind from the SW with a settled glass. Lac Harling should fish best around the shallows early and the drop later today. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, is where Lac Harling sits. Land around it is rolling bush. With some 66 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The shoreline runs about 6.1 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. On our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list it sits near the top for size. Head to Deep River, 79 km away, for anything you forgot. Chalk River is 89 km and Mattawa 96 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Harling a short move beats a long cast.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -15°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Harling.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. For a change of water, Lac Veira is 1.8 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Harling in what we hold.
