Wet weather working through today, with dead-still conditions and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Gull along points where shallow meets deep. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Gull is one of the Mauricie waters in Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have northern bush. At about 46 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Roughly 4.3 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Size puts it in the front rank of our Mauricie list. Some 56 km away sits Weymontachie, the nearest settlement. La Tuque is 62 km and Manawan 63 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The near bank of Lac Gull is often the one people ignore.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. On Lac Gull that shapes the whole year.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Loon is 0.9 km off. Where Lac Gull is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
