Heavy overcast holding through the day, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Lac Guillet is the calm side of the wind. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Mauricie, Lac Guillet is a Quebec water. The bank gives way to boreal forest. With some 17 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 2.4 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. The closest town, Weymontachie, is 15 km away. The nearest city of size is Trois-Rivières, 192 km away. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Guillet gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Averages move between -17°C in January and 16°C in July. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Guillet.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac Fred, 0.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac Guillet if anything is unclear.
