No direct sun expected today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Gregoire should hold close to the calm side of the wind. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Night
Lac Gregoire stands in Laurentides, Quebec. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. With some 18 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Shoreline comes to about 3.0 km, small enough to learn in a day. La Minerve is the closest town at 12 km. The nearest city of size is Orléans, 87 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Treat Lac Gregoire as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -14°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Lac Gregoire follows the weather closely.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. If the gate is shut, Premier lac Lurais at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac Gregoire should be assumed from this page alone.
