Overcast skies today, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with the glass holding level. On Lac Goult, work the margins and the shelf beyond them first. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Goult lies within the bounds of Outaouais, Quebec. What surrounds it is rolling bush. Surface area runs to about 2 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Outaouais. Some 78 km away sits Saint-Boniface, the nearest settlement. Maniwaki follows at 90 km, then Ferme-Neuve at 92 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Lac Goult the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Between January at about -17°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around late November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. At Lac Goult the season follows that pattern closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Marin, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Lac Goult.
